MOAPA, NV – LC State Men’s Golf, receiving votes in the NAIA poll, concluded its spring season opener with a fifth-place team finish at the OUAZ Spring Invite. After a stoppage in the second round on Monday due to darkness, the Warriors closed out the tournament in round three with a team score of 306, their best round of the tournament.
Sondre Andresen led the Warriors in the individual contest after his final round score of 222 resulted in a ninth-place finish. He finished 6-over with a 72-78-72 scorecard for the tournament to bounce back and secure his place in the top 10.
“Sondre had a great event minus three holes. Really good to see him get a top 10 in a good field”, coach Zach Anderson commented. “Our execution this week just wasn’t what this course demanded. Glad that we get three more weeks to get better before we get back on the tournament stretch.”
Junior Luke West shot 79 in round three to finish in a tie for 24th with a total score of 18-over, 234 (81-74-79). Aaron Brown was not far behind him with a score of 19-over, 235 to finish in a tie for 26th. Brown shot 78 in round three for scores of 77-80-78.
Sophomore Lucas Ortega finished next for the Warriors in a four-way tie for 33rd. He finished 24-over with a scorecard of 78-79-83.
Senior Kye Krall finished as one of the four in a tie for 33rd. His third-round performance of 77 was his best of the week by four strokes (81-82-77).
