Transgender Activist Melissa Sue Robinson Enters Idaho Governor’s Race

NAMPA, ID – Melissa Sue Robinson has announced her run for governor of Idaho and affirmed her alignment with the core values of the Libertarian Party.

Robinson, a transgender activist, said she is committed to liberty, personal responsibility and limited government, and stands behind the foundational beliefs that define the Libertarian movement across the United States. Her entry into the race means there are now two transgender candidates running for governor.

“I believe deeply in the power of individual freedom,” Robinson said. “The Libertarian Party represents the principles that have guided my life — the protection of civil liberties, personal autonomy, free markets, and a government that exists to serve the people, not control them.”

Robinson outlined what she described as the core values of the Libertarian Party. She cited individual liberty, saying every person has the right to live as they choose so long as they do not infringe on the equal rights of others.

She also highlighted limited government, stating that government power should be strictly limited to protecting individual rights rather than expanding into unnecessary regulation or control.

Her stated positions include peace and non-intervention, describing a foreign policy focused on defense and diplomacy rather than military intervention, and civil liberties, including protection of free speech, privacy, bodily autonomy, due process and equal protection under the law.

Robinson said these values are practical commitments aimed at restoring trust in government and empowering communities.

“As a lifelong advocate for freedom and dignity, I believe that government should protect rights — not dictate personal decisions,” she said. “The Libertarian Party platform reflects my unwavering belief in human liberty, equality before the law, and economic opportunity for all.”
