BOISE, ID — Idaho attorney Lori Hickman announced Friday that she is running for Idaho attorney general, citing a focus on professionalism, ethics and adherence to the rule of law.
“The attorney general is the people’s lawyer,” Hickman said in a statement. “This office must be grounded in ethics, sound legal analysis, and respect for the Constitution.”
Hickman, who has two decades of experience in civil litigation, corporate counsel and public service, said the attorney general’s office should prioritize steady legal judgment and even-handed leadership.
A graduate of Borah High School, Hickman earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Brigham Young University and a law degree from the university’s J. Reuben Clark Law School, where she served as a law review editor. She began her legal career at Latham & Watkins in New York City, practicing complex business litigation, before returning to Idaho.
In Idaho, Hickman continued litigation work and later served as associate general counsel at Micron Technology in Boise, where she handled intellectual property transactions and corporate legal matters. She also served as a term law clerk for the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho and currently practices at McFarland Ritter PLLC, focusing on business, litigation and intellectual property cases.
Hickman is licensed to practice law in Idaho, Utah and New York and volunteers as a court-appointed guardian ad litem in child protection cases. She previously served as board chair of Mormon Women for Ethical Government.
In her announcement, Hickman said her priorities include restoring ethical accountability, strengthening relationships with state agencies and law enforcement, and ensuring the office serves all Idahoans.
Idaho’s current attorney general is Raúl Labrador.
