LEWISTON, ID — A 50-year-old man listed with a Lewiston residence is facing a felony charge after prosecutors allege he provided false information on his required sex offender registration.
According to court records in Nez Perce County Magistrate Court, Julio C. Loza is charged with providing false information in sex offender registration. The charge stems from an alleged incident on Feb. 25, 2026.
An affidavit states a Sex Offender Registration Act clerk reported Loza may not have been complying with registry requirements. Investigators were told he was living at a Lewiston residence located less than 500 feet from a school and playground.
However, authorities allege he had been registering a different Lewiston address for several years. The owner of that residence reportedly told investigators he does not live there and she did not know why he was using her address.
According to the affidavit, investigators contacted Loza at the residence near the school, where he allegedly admitted he had been living there and acknowledged submitting a January 2026 address verification form listing the other Lewiston address despite not residing there.
Court records show the case was filed Feb. 26 and remains active and pending. During the hearing, prosecutors requested a $75,000 bond. The judge set bond at $5,000 with “any except” conditions on Feb. 26.
A status conference is scheduled for March 9 at 2:30 p.m., followed by a preliminary hearing set for March 11 .
