LEWISTON, ID — More than 110,000 catchable-sized rainbow trout will be stocked across Idaho in March, including several locations in the Clearwater Region and Lewis-Clark Valley, according to Idaho Fish and Game.
Locally, anglers can expect fresh trout at Kiwanis Park Pond in Lewiston, which is scheduled to receive 900 rainbow trout. The levee pond sits along the Snake River in Kiwanis Park and offers easy access near picnic shelters and a playground.
Mann Lake in Nez Perce County will receive 6,000 rainbow trout this month. In addition to trout, the lake supports bass, catfish and panfish. Electric motors are the only type allowed on the waterbody.
On the Camas Prairie, Tolo Lake west of Grangeville is set to receive 500 rainbow trout. The lake is known for easy access and also supports warmwater species. Boaters must observe a no-wake restriction.
In North Idaho, Round Lake and Kelso Lake are each scheduled to receive 2,500 rainbow trout. Both lakes offer family-friendly access and amenities, with Round Lake located in a state park setting and Kelso Lake situated along Idaho Birding Trail #14.
Fish and Game officials note that many of the stocked waters are designed to be accessible for families and beginning anglers. Youth under age 14 do not need a fishing license, while anyone 14 and older must have a valid Idaho fishing license.
Stocking schedules can change based on weather, water conditions or hatchery needs. Anglers are encouraged to check current seasons and regulations before heading out.
