WALLACE, ID – Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office announced that Sheriff William Eddy has resigned due to medical reasons.
In a statement released by the agency, Undersheriff Travis Skinner said the office appreciates Eddy’s service to Shoshone County, particularly during what he described as a challenging period of transition within the department. He added that the sheriff’s office remains fully operational and that its mission will continue without interruption.
Skinner said the leadership team, deputies and professional staff remain committed to serving county residents with professionalism and integrity. He noted that in recent months the administration has worked toward detention facility certification, maintained fiscally responsible operations and addressed prior budget challenges while staying on track financially.
According to the statement, patrol deputies will continue their daily responsibilities focused on public safety, law enforcement and protecting the constitutional rights of citizens. The office also pledged to continue improving services to provide dependable, high-quality law enforcement.
Under Idaho law, the appropriate political party’s central committee will submit candidates to the Shoshone County Board of Commissioners, who will appoint a replacement to serve the remainder of the term.
Skinner said his role during the transition is to help ensure continuity and stability within the office and to support the incoming sheriff to facilitate a smooth transition.
