Investigation Underway After Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting in Southern Idaho

NAMPA, ID – One man is dead and another injured following an officer-involved shooting Tuesday afternoon in Nampa, according to the Nampa Police Department.

Police said the incident occurred Tuesday at about 2:03 p.m. when two officers conducted a traffic stop near North 21st Street and Industrial Road. The stop involved a known suspect with a confirmed felony warrant who was reportedly armed with a gun.

During the stop, authorities said a passenger in the vehicle produced a handgun and did not comply with officers’ commands. Both officers fired their weapons.

The driver was struck in the hands. Police said his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The passenger, who police said produced the gun, was struck multiple times. Officers attempted life-saving measures at the scene, but he was pronounced dead.

No officers were injured in the shooting.

The Canyon County Critical Incident Task Force was notified and responded to the scene. The Caldwell Police Department is serving as the lead investigating agency.
