LCSC Men Fall to Loyola in Road Trip Opener

NEW ORLEANS, LA – LC State Men’s Tennis, receiving votes in the national poll, was defeated by No. 25 Loyola (La.) 7-0 to open its southern road trip.

The Wolfpack defeated the Warriors in No.1 and No. 2 doubles to open the match, which secured the doubles point. Rafael Bonnet de Larbogne and Gautam Balakrishnan took the No. 3 doubles match 6-4 in LC State’s lone victory.

In No. 1 Singles, sophomore Pablo Herrera had a strong two sets. He dropped set one by a score of 6-4 before he took his opponent to a tiebreak in the second set. Ultimately he dropped the set 7-6(2).

Sophomore Gautam Balakrishnan fought hard in No. 5 singles. He took the first set 6-2 before he fell in the next two sets 6-2 and 6-4.

In No. 6 singles Cesar Coloma opened the match strong with a 6-1 win in set one, but eventually dropped the second set 6-1 and the third set 6-4.

The Warriors face off against No. 9 Xavier in the second game of their away stretch.
