Bushnell Edges No. 12 LC State with Ninth-Inning Rally

LEWISTON, ID – Bushnell (Ore.) used a four-run ninth inning to take the weekend finale against No. 12 LC State on Sunday. The Beacons edged the Warriors by a final of 5-4. Each team was limited to six hits in the contest.

The loss has the LC State record at 14-3 on the season and 6-3 in Cascade Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The game was low-scoring with one run allowed by Jackson Cloud in his five innings of work. LC State manufactured a run in the bottom of the fifth to even the contest.

Anthony Karagiannopoulos walked to lead off the inning and a sacrifice bunt by Izzy Madariaga moved him to second. Back-to-back hit batters put Karagiannopoulos on third before a wild pitch plated the run.

After three shutout innings of relief by Jordan Lennartson, LC State took its first lead in the home half of the eighth.

Bryce Johnson singled and took third on a botched pickoff attempt. Izzy Madariaga put the Warriors in front with an RBI single through the right side for a 2-1 edge.

Tyler Logan took over on the mound in the top of the ninth and got the first out before he handed the ball to Jace Taylor. A costly error gave Bushnell opportunities to put together a four-run inning and take a 5-2 lead into the bottom of the ninth.

The Warriors loaded the bases in the home half of the inning and a single up the middle by Madariaga brought in two, but LC State left two on to end the game.
