BOISE, ID — A Kootenai County man has been arrested and is accused of possessing child sexual exploitation material following an investigation by the Idaho Attorney General’s Office.
Attorney General Raúl Labrador announced that investigators with the Idaho Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit arrested 22-year-old Evan Swope on March 5. Authorities say Swope is allegedly facing 11 counts of possession of child sexual exploitation material.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, the ICAC Unit was assisted in the investigation and arrest by the Post Falls Police Department, Moscow Police Department, the Kootenai County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, the Kootenai County Joint SWAT Team, the Coeur d’Alene Police Department CAT Team, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Attorney General Labrador said the arrest is part of ongoing efforts by investigators and partner agencies to address the online exploitation of children.
“Every arrest we make is a step toward protecting Idaho children from exploitation,” Labrador said, while thanking ICAC investigators and cooperating law enforcement agencies.
The Attorney General’s ICAC Unit works with the Idaho ICAC Task Force, a coalition of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies that investigate individuals suspected of using the internet to exploit children.
