Forecasters Warn Rain and Snowmelt Could Cause Minor Flooding Along Palouse River, Paradise Creek

PULLMAN, WA – The National Weather Service is warning that waterways on the Palouse could reach bankfull levels or experience minor flooding this weekend as rain and snowmelt increase water levels.

Forecasters say the rising water is expected from Friday through Sunday. The waterways most likely to be affected include Paradise Creek and the Palouse River.

Meteorologists say widespread rain combined with melting snow in higher elevations will push more water into rivers, streams, and creeks across the region. While major flooding is not expected, conditions could still create hazards for nearby roads, fields, and low-lying areas.

Officials are urging residents and travelers to stay alert and follow all posted road signs around flooded areas. Drivers are also reminded not to attempt to cross water-covered roads.
