LEWISTON, ID – LC State Men’s Tennis, receiving votes in the national poll, suffered a 5-2 defeat against in-state NCAA Division I opponent Idaho State on Sunday. However, the Warriors picked up two victories in singles play and an exciting doubles win.
The pair of Giacomo Moreira and Pablo Herrera earned a win for the Warriors after a thrilling match that went to tiebreak in No. 1 doubles. The duo earned a victory over their opponents by a score of 7-6 (7-4) after trailing 5-4 in the contest.
In No. 3 singles junior Rafael Bonnet de Larbogne had an intense match that went to tiebreak in both sets. He won the first set 7-6(8-6). He held off a late surge by his opponent in the second set for a score of 7-6(7-3) to earn a point for the Warriors.
Gautam Balakrishnan picked up the second point for the Warriors with his second victory over a DI opponent on the weekend. He defeated his opponent in straight sets for a 6-3, 6-2 win.
