LEWISTON, ID — Nez Perce County officials have closed a rural roadway between Lenore and Gifford after recent flooding caused significant damage.

According to a county notification, County Road R-340, also known as Summit Grade, is closed between U.S. Highway 12 and Berriman Road. The closure follows flood-related washouts that left the roadway in hazardous condition.

Officials say the damage includes multiple large washouts along the grade, requiring extensive repairs. The timeline for reopening remains unclear.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes until further notice.
