PORTLAND, OR — The Bureau of Land Management is recruiting seasonal volunteer campground hosts for multiple recreation sites across Oregon and Washington ahead of the busy outdoor season.
According to a March 18 media release, the positions are part of a broader effort to support visitors during a milestone year marking the nation’s 250th anniversary and the BLM’s 80th anniversary.
Campground hosts serve as on-site resources for visitors, providing information about recreation opportunities, answering questions, and helping maintain safe and clean facilities. Duties may include light upkeep such as cleaning restrooms, picking up trash, and updating campground signage.
The volunteer role is a live-in position, requiring participants to provide their own self-contained RV. Some hosts may qualify for a daily per diem reimbursement while stationed at a site.
Most assignments run from late spring through early fall, though exact schedules vary by location. Some المواقع can accommodate couples who wish to share responsibilities. All selected volunteers must complete a federal background check.
Those interested can find current openings and apply through Volunteer.gov by searching for “BLM Oregon” or “BLM Washington.”
The BLM manages approximately 245 million acres of public land across the United States, primarily in western states, and oversees an additional 700 million acres of subsurface mineral estate.
