Dworshak Dam closes several recreation areas due to flooding, mudslides

AHSAHKA, ID — Several recreation areas at Dworshak Dam and Reservoir have been temporarily closed due to flooding and mudslides, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Walla Walla District.

Officials announced Wednesday that Merry’s Bay Day Use Area, Dent Acres Recreation Area, and Bruce’s Eddy Recreation Area are currently closed for public safety.

Other locations remain open, including Dam View Campground, Canyon Creek Recreation Area, and Big Eddy Recreation Area.

The Corps of Engineers said Dent Campground and the Dent Group Camping Area are still scheduled to open April 12, with reservations required through Recreation.gov, the mobile app, or by calling 877-444-6777.

Visitors are encouraged to check for the latest updates before traveling. Current conditions and access information are available by calling the Dworshak Visitor Center at 208-476-1255 during business hours or by visiting the Dworshak Dam Facebook page.

The closures will remain in place until conditions improve and the areas can safely reopen.
