BOISE, ID — The Idaho Department of Education has appointed Alica Holthaus as deputy superintendent for the state’s northern regions, where she will support local school districts across North Idaho.
Holthaus, a former superintendent of the Mountain View and St. Maries school districts, brings decades of experience as both a teacher and administrator. She most recently served as interim superintendent in Grangeville, guiding the Mountain View School District through a deconsolidation that will split it into two districts on July 1.
She has also worked with the University of Idaho’s Building Capacity project, supporting schools in the region since 2023.
“I am honored to continue serving Idaho’s students, educators, and communities in this new role,” Holthaus said.
State Superintendent Debbie Critchfield said Holthaus’ experience and familiarity with northern Idaho communities will strengthen support for schools facing regional challenges.
