CLARKSTON, WA – LC State Women’s Golf, ranked No. 22 in the Scoreboard rankings, swept the team and individual titles at The Warrior Spring Classic held at Red Wolf Golf Club on Tuesday. The Warriors delivered a dominant performance as they won by 47 strokes. Jane Barry took home the individual title for the first win of her career as four Warriors placed in the top five.
“After just missing the win in Salem, the women left no doubt at the home event. Really cool to see the caliber of golf they continue to play,” coach Zach Anderson said.
Barry led the way for LC State with another solid round to secure the individual win. She shot 4-over, 76, in round two and showed discipline throughout the round to finish the tournament 6-over.
“So excited for Jane getting her first collegiate win,” Anderson said. “She has really become a core part of the women’s team’s development into a nationally recognized program. A few days off before we head to a stacked field at Dalton State’s (Ga.) event. No doubt our women will be there to make some noise.”
Sophomore Giulia Belfontali shot 2-over, 74, in round two, which was a three-stroke improvement on her previous round, to finish second. She was just one stroke behind Barry to finish 7-over in the tournament.
In her final regular-season home tournament, senior Dallis Shockey shot 8-over, 81, in round two to finish tied for third at 12-over in total. Junior Isabella Barquet was just two strokes behind Shockey after a 6-over, 78, in round two to finish in fifth. Barquet improved on her round one score by two shots to finish 14-over.
Freshman Taylor Mire had another composed round to end her week. She shot 6-over, 78, in round two, which was a four-stroke improvement from Monday. Mire finished sixth in the contest, just two strokes behind Barquet, at 16-over.
The LC State individual competitors had another efficient round and placed well within the competition. Natalia Gomez completed round two with a tournament total of 20-over to finish the week in a five-way tie for eighth. Junior Chase Caruso shot one stroke better than she did in round one with 10-over, 82, to finish in 13th at 21-over.
