BOISE, ID – The Star Police Department reported that a teenager died Wednesday afternoon following what appears to be a drowning at Freedom Park in Star.
According to police, deputies were dispatched at approximately 3:30 p.m. on March 18, 2026, to a reported water rescue.
The male teenager was later recovered from a pond by the Boise Fire Department dive team. Lifesaving efforts were attempted but were unsuccessful.
Authorities said no foul play is suspected at this time.
The victim’s identity will be released at a later time by the Ada County Coroner’s Office.
Police thanked responding agencies for their assistance, including Ada County Paramedics, Boise Fire, Star Fire, Eagle Police Department and the Ada County Sheriff’s Office.
In a statement, the department expressed condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones.
