AT&T upgrades to cause temporary outages in Lapwai and Kamiah

LAPWAI, ID – AT&T customers in the Lapwai and Kamiah areas can expect temporary service disruptions this week as tower equipment upgrades are completed, according to the Nez Perce Tribe.

In Lapwai, outages are scheduled from March 23 through March 25. A full cellular outage is expected Monday, followed by reduced coverage and slower speeds on Tuesday and Wednesday. A portable cell tower has been placed in Lapwai to provide limited coverage for FirstNet users, though standard AT&T customers may still experience service gaps. Users are encouraged to connect to Wi-Fi and enable Wi-Fi calling where available.

In Kamiah, upgrades are planned from March 26 through March 28. A full outage is expected on the first day, with reduced service continuing through the remainder of the work.

The Nez Perce Tribe advises that coverage during these periods may be limited and slower than usual. Questions can be directed to the tribe’s IT department at 208.843.7307.
