Idaho gas prices jump 41 cents in one week, AAA reports

BOISE, ID — Idaho drivers are seeing a sharp increase at the pump, with gas prices rising 41 cents over the past week, according to AAA Idaho.

The statewide average for a gallon of regular gasoline now sits at $4.11, marking a $1.14 increase from a month ago and 86 cents higher than this time last year.

The national average is currently $3.95 per gallon, also trending upward with a 23-cent increase over the past week and more than a dollar increase compared to a month ago.

AAA Idaho Public Affairs Director Matthew Conde said higher crude oil costs are a key factor behind the spike.

“Higher crude oil costs, largely the result of conflict in the Middle East, drive up the price of the finished products we get from it – including gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel,” Conde said.

Idaho now ranks ninth in the nation for the most expensive fuel, trailing states including California, Washington, and Hawaii.

AAA reports that crude oil, measured by the West Texas Intermediate benchmark, is trading near $89 per barrel. While that represents a recent drop, prices remain elevated due to ongoing constraints in global supply.

As fuel costs continue to climb, AAA notes that the impact is being felt across transportation, affecting everything from daily commutes to shipping and travel expenses.
