LEWISTON, ID – A man was taken into custody at the Nez Perce County Jail on Monday on a warrant for felony grand theft involving a motor vehicle, according to court documents.
29-year-old Danny D. Booze was charged following an investigation by the Lewiston Police Department.
According to court documents, the case stems from a reported vehicle theft on December 8, 2025, in the 600 block of 24th Street North. A silver 2008 Hyundai Elantra was reported stolen after its owner said the keys had been left inside. The vehicle was last seen early that morning. Investigators noted the vehicle was valued between roughly $3,500 and $4,000.
Court documents further state that on December 20, 2025, Clarkston Police took Booze into custody in an unrelated case in Asotin County, without the vehicle. During the investigation, officers reported finding a license plate associated with the vehicle allegedly in Booze’s possession.
The affidavit also alleges Booze admitted to law enforcement that he took the vehicle. He also told officers where they could locate the vehicle.
Based on information from Clarkston Police, an arrest warrant was later issued for Booze in Nez Perce County.
Booze was arrested in Asotin County on Monday morning and extradited to Nez Perce County. He remained in custody Tuesday morning and is expected to make his initial court appearance Tuesday afternoon.
