WINCHESTER, ID — Emergency crews responded to a vehicle fire Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of U.S. Highway 95 and Talmacks Road near Winchester.
According to the Winchester Volunteer Fire Department, the call came in at approximately 2:46 p.m. Crews arrived to find a vehicle fully involved with flames and heavy black smoke.
The driver, the sole occupant, was able to pull the vehicle off the roadway and exit safely without injury. The fire is believed to have been caused by a mechanical issue, and the vehicle sustained heavy damage.
Responding agencies included Winchester Volunteer Fire Department, Winchester QRU, Craigmont Fire Department, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office and Idaho State Police. No injuries were reported among emergency personnel.
Firefighters also used extrication tools to open the vehicle’s trunk so the owner could retrieve personal belongings.
