ASOTIN, WA — Asotin County officials have announced the start of the 2026 spring controlled burning season, which begins April 1 and runs through May 31.
According to a notice from the Asotin County Building and Planning Department, daily burning hours will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with all fires required to be fully extinguished by 4 p.m.
The county has set size limits for burn piles at 4 feet by 4 feet by 3 feet high. Residents are also advised to check conditions each day before burning by calling the county’s burn line, as restrictions may change based on weather or fire risk.
Officials recommend that residents review full burn regulations, which are available through the Asotin County Building and Planning Department or Asotin County Fire District No. 1 in Clarkston Heights.
As an alternative to burning, the Asotin County Regional Landfill is offering a free yard waste disposal program. Residents can contact the landfill for details on accepted materials.
