Dworshak recreation areas reopen after flooding and mudslides

AHSAHKA, ID— Several recreation areas at Dworshak Dam and Reservoir have reopened after being temporarily closed due to recent flooding and mudslides, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Walla Walla District.

Officials said the following locations have been assessed and are now open to the public:

  • Merry’s Bay Day Use Area
  • Dent Acres Recreation Area
  • Bruce’s Eddy Recreation Area

Seasonal openings are also moving forward as planned. Dent Campground and the Dent Group Camping Area are scheduled to open April 12, with reservations required for all campsites. Bookings can be made through Recreation.gov, its mobile app, or by phone.

Visitors are encouraged to check for the latest conditions before heading out, as some areas may still be impacted by recent weather. Updates are available through the Dworshak Visitor Center or the facility’s official social media page.

The closures were initially put in place for public safety following hazardous conditions caused by flooding and mudslides in the area.
