Mire Leads LCSC Women in Stacked Field at Roadrunner Spring Invite

COHUTTA, GA – No. 19 LC State Women’s Golf got out to a hot start at the Lady Roadrunner Spring Invitational, but a talented field caught up with the Warriors through the first two rounds in Georgia. LC State sits in eighth place as one of 10 NAIA Top 25 teams at Nob North GCS.

Taylor Mire leads the group in a tie for 24th place in the field of 89. The Warriors are five strokes out of the top six among the 16 teams after leading through the first nine holes of the day.

“An up-and-down day for the women,” coach Zach Anderson said. “It was a long one as they walked 36 holes, but they fought the whole time. We got off to a great start and really limited our big numbers. Unfortunately, those started to catch up with us and our scores inflated. Still, we are right around some highly ranked teams, so tomorrow is very important. Work to be done tomorrow.”

Freshman Mire is the top LC State player after the first two rounds. She carded a score of 13-over to sit in the top 25. Jane Barry, fresh off her victory at The Warrior Spring Classic, is tied for 31st with a one-stroke difference at 14-over.

Isabella Barquet and Giulia Belfontali are part of a six-way tie for 37th after each shooting 16-over on the day.

Senior Dallis Shockey rounds out the group in a tie for 65th at 22-over.

Host No. 2 Dalton State (Ga.) leads the field and the Roadrunners’ Jia Kataria, the top-ranked player in the NAIA, leads individually.
