PULLMAN, WA— Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories announced it has increased its starting hourly wage from $20.00 to $21.50, a move the company says reflects its continued focus on employee investment and competitive pay.
According to the company, the wage increase is part of a broader effort to support living-wage jobs and retain workers in a competitive labor market. Company leadership said the adjustment aligns with its employee-owned structure, where workforce well-being is tied to overall success.
In addition to the wage increase, SEL highlighted its benefits package, which includes health, dental and vision coverage, retirement options, paid time off and access to onsite health clinics at select locations. Full-time U.S. employees also receive company stock through an employee stock ownership plan.
The company also pointed to career development programs, including tuition assistance and apprenticeship opportunities, along with internal advancement. SEL reports more than 1,000 employee promotions annually.
A Pullman-based senior engineering technician credited company programs and mentorship with helping him move from an entry-level role into a technical position while pursuing a degree.
Founded in 1984 and headquartered in Pullman, SEL designs and manufactures systems used to protect electrical power grids. The company says it has continued to grow without layoffs and serves customers worldwide.
