SPOKANE, WA — A Clarkston woman has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for her role in distributing fentanyl that led to a fatal overdose, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Washington.
Shannon Louise Grove, 53, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Rebecca L. Pennell to 60 months in prison, followed by six years of supervised release.
According to court documents, Grove had a history of drug distribution in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley and prior drug-related convictions in both Asotin County, Washington, and Nez Perce County, Idaho. In October 2024, she distributed fentanyl to a Lewiston man who later died. Investigators used phone records and other data to link Grove to the distribution.
A federal grand jury indicted Grove on June 4, 2025. She later pleaded guilty on December 30, 2025.
First Assistant U.S. Attorney Pete Serrano said the case underscores the ongoing impact of fentanyl on communities.
“This case embodies the devastating impact illicit fentanyl has on individuals, families, and communities,” Serrano said, offering condolences to the victim’s family.
Robert Bohls, special agent in charge of the FBI Salt Lake City Field Office, said the case highlights the consequences of drug distribution.
“For years, the defendant helped fuel the addiction crisis, and sadly, that cycle ended in tragedy,” Bohls said.
The investigation involved multiple agencies, including the FBI’s Lewiston Resident Agency, Lewiston Police Department, and the Quad Cities Drug Task Force, which includes officers from agencies in both Idaho and Washington.
