SALMON, ID— A new livestream wildlife camera is offering the public a close-up view of osprey activity in central Idaho, according to a recent release from Idaho Fish and Game.
The agency announced the launch of a high-resolution, 24/7 osprey webcam in April, allowing viewers to watch nesting behavior, chick rearing, and daily activity of the birds in the Salmon area.
The camera is positioned above a platform nest at the Salmon Outdoor Classroom, a public space designed for wildlife viewing and outdoor education. Officials said the location provides a consistent look at one of the region’s most recognizable birds of prey.
Ospreys typically live and breed in the Salmon River Valley from April through August before migrating to South America for the winter. The livestream is expected to capture much of that seasonal activity in real time.
Fish and Game said the project was made possible through partnerships and contributions from several organizations, including the Idaho Fish and Wildlife Foundation, Salmon Valley Stewardship, Idaho Power, CusterTel, SteamWorld, and K12.Tech.
The agency encourages the public to tune in to the webcam online for updates and to observe the nesting season as it unfolds.
