WALLA WALLA, WA — A 3-year-old child has died after being injured at a park in central Washington earlier this week, according to the Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies and Fire District 4 responded to Rooks Park around 2:39 p.m. on April 1 following a report of an injured child. Detectives and patrol units investigated the incident and determined no crime had been committed.
The child later died from his injuries.
Authorities are asking the community to respect the family’s privacy as they grieve.
Officials also confirmed Rooks Park will remain closed until at least April 15. Questions about park hours and access should be directed to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
The sheriff’s office said no further information will be released.
