INDIANAPOLIS, IN – LC State Men’s Tennis, receiving votes in the national poll, pulled off a big upset to close out the regular season with a 5-2 victory over No. 13 Missouri Baptist. The Warriors took the lead in doubles play before wins in four singles contests.
The Warriors finish the regular season with a 9-8 overall record and a 4-3 mark against NAIA opponents.
LC State led 1-0 after doubles action with wins in the second and third spots. Nell Rollin and Rafael Bonnet de Larbogne teamed up for a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles, and Gautam Balakrishnan and Leonel Gatti earned a 6-4 victory in third doubles.
Giacomo Moreira earned the first win in singles with a three-set victory in the fourth spot. He defeated Ruslan Anurev, ranked No. 67 in the NAIA, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. Pablo Herrera earned a win over the No. 46-ranked player in the NAIA, Strahinja Radanovic, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 in No. 3 singles.
Bonnet de Larbogne clinched the match for LC State with his big win over the No. 22-ranked player in the NAIA, Sebastian Junghanns. He took the No. 2 singles matchup 5-7, 7-5, 6-2.
Rollin capped the day for the Warriors with a quick 6-3, 6-3 win in No. 5 singles.
