LAS VEGAS, NV — Athletes from the Lewis-Clark Valley brought home multiple medals over Easter weekend while competing at the 2026 North American Open karate tournament.
Six athletes and Coach Jon Morrow represented the Inland Empire AAU Karate Regional Team at the international event, facing a large and competitive field. Novice and intermediate competitors led the way for the team, earning podium finishes across several divisions.
Milo Jones secured four medals, including second place finishes in kobudo and kata, along with two third place finishes in kumite events. Luke Heavrin earned a first place finish in intermediate kobudo and placed second in kata.
Maverick Campbell added three medals with second place finishes in kata and kobudo and a third place finish in sanbon kumite. CC Subis also medaled twice, earning third place in both kobudo and sanbon kumite.
The team was joined by Anton Arthur and Makaela Everheart, who also competed at the event.
Coaches said the athletes demonstrated strong sportsmanship while representing the region against international competition.
