CLARKSTON, WA — A community meeting focused on wildfire preparedness for residents living near the Lower Snake and Salmon River canyons is scheduled for later this month.
The Idaho Department of Lands’ Craig Mountain Forest Protective District will host the meeting to help area residents prepare for the upcoming wildfire season.
Officials plan to cover fire prevention strategies, how wildfire suppression is managed, and what changes when a Complex Incident Management Team is assigned to a fire. The session will also include a discussion on structure protection, along with results from a 2024 assessment conducted in the canyon area.
The meeting is set for Wednesday, April 29, at 5:30 p.m. at Wet Ever Boat Shop, located at 1030 16th Avenue in Clarkston.
Fire officials encourage residents in the canyon areas to attend and learn more about protecting homes and property ahead of fire season.
