NEWPORT, WA— A Newport woman and local teacher was arrested Tuesday following an investigation into allegations of sexual contact with two teenage boys, according to the Pend Oreille County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation began May 18 after the Washington State Department of Children, Youth and Families contacted the sheriff’s office regarding a possible sexual abuse case involving two teenage males.
Authorities said 35-year-old Amber N. Swain of Newport was accused of having sexual contact with the two teenagers. Forensic interviews were conducted with the alleged victims, and detectives interviewed Swain on June 2.
Investigators said probable cause was established to believe the incidents occurred. Swain was taken into custody and booked into the Pend Oreille County Jail on charges of first-degree incest and second-degree incest.
The sheriff’s office said Swain is employed as a local teacher and that her employer has been notified. School officials are cooperating with the investigation.
The case remains under investigation, and no additional information has been released.
