AHSAHKA, ID – A holiday-themed event is coming to Dworshak State Park this weekend as Idaho prepares to help decorate the 2026 U.S. Capitol Christmas tree.
Dworshak State Park announced it will host a Christmas ornament decorating event at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 4, at the Freeman Creek Campground activity field. The ornaments will be added to the U.S. Capitol Christmas tree, which will be provided this year by the U.S. Forest Service from the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests.
According to the park, the tree will stand on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., during the holiday season and will be decorated with ornaments made by Idahoans and reflecting the state. The ornament decorating program is open to all ages, including campers and community members. Supplies will be provided.
