GRANGEVILLE, ID — Search and rescue teams are continuing efforts to locate a motorcyclist who has been missing for several days after departing on a ride along U.S. Highway 12 between Missoula, Montana, and Lewiston, Idaho.
According to the Grangeville Mountain Rescue Unit, Ian Gililland was last heard from at 4:19 p.m. on July 29, when he sent a photo of a campsite along his route. No one has heard from him since.
The Idaho State Police later located the campsite shown in the photo. Investigators found one water bottle left at the campsite and a second water bottle in the fire pit. However, Gililland’s 2025 Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide motorcycle was not at the site, and authorities reported finding no tire tracks continuing beyond the campsite.
Search and Rescue personnel remain actively involved in the search, while the Idaho State Police and the Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Gililland’s disappearance.
Authorities are asking anyone traveling U.S. Highway 12 between Missoula and Lewiston to remain alert for Gililland, his motorcycle, or anything unusual along the route that could assist investigators.
Anyone with information about Gililland’s whereabouts or who believes they have seen him or his motorcycle is urged to call 911 immediately.
Search officials said updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
