Post Falls man sentenced to prison following eighth lifetime DUI

POST FALLS, ID — A 69-year-old Post Falls man has been sentenced to prison after being convicted of felony driving under the influence for the eighth time in his lifetime.

According to the Kootenai County Prosecutor’s Office, Jeffrey Allen Jeske was found guilty of felony DUI stemming from a March 1, 2025, traffic stop. Jeske was pulled over after 10 p.m. for driving without headlights or taillights. During the stop, officers observed several signs of intoxication and began a DUI investigation.

According to court records, Jeske refused to perform field sobriety evaluations and declined to provide a breath sample. After officers obtained a search warrant, a blood sample was collected, revealing a blood alcohol concentration of 0.157 — nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08. Authorities said multiple officers were required to restrain Jeske on a padded mat before the blood draw could be completed.

Felony DUI in Idaho is punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Jeske was sentenced on December 30, 2025, by District Judge Regina McCrea.

According to the prosecutor’s office, Jeske’s criminal history spans more than three decades and includes seven prior DUI convictions, all in Kootenai County. Those include misdemeanor DUI convictions in 1995, 1997, 2002, and 2005, followed by felony DUI convictions in 2007, 2010, and 2016. In multiple prior cases, Jeske refused sobriety testing and blood draws revealed elevated blood alcohol levels. He was repeatedly granted probation after completing treatment through retained jurisdiction, commonly known as a “rider,” but later violated probation conditions.

At sentencing, Prosecuting Attorney Stanley T. Mortensen recommended a 10-year prison sentence with parole eligibility after five years. Judge McCrea sentenced Jeske to eight years in prison with parole eligibility after four years and ordered a five-year driver’s license suspension to begin following his release.

Mortensen credited the Idaho State Police for investigating the case and Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Donna Gardner for handling the prosecution.
