CLEARWATER COUNTY, ID — Cavendish Highway was temporarily closed last week after an excavator tipped off a trailer and blocked both lanes of travel, according to the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the incident around 11:59 a.m. on Dec. 29 near milepost 6.7. Upon arrival, they found an excavator and its trailer overturned in the roadway, prompting a full closure of Cavendish Highway between Elmwood Loop and the Sunnyside Fire Department.

The equipment operator told deputies the excavator came loose from the trailer while navigating a curve. No injuries were reported, and no other vehicles were involved.
