OROFINO, ID – As daylight hours shorten and weather conditions change, the Clearwater County Ambulance District is reminding residents to make sure their home addresses and driveways are clearly marked and easy to see.

Emergency responders say valuable time can be lost when house numbers are missing, blocked, or difficult to read—especially in rural areas with shared mailboxes or long driveways. Unmarked or poorly marked homes can delay ambulances when seconds matter most.

Residents are encouraged to use large, reflective house numbers placed on mailboxes, near property entrances, or at the start of driveways. Trimming back bushes and keeping signs free of obstructions like decorations, planters, or flags can also improve visibility. The district notes that reflective numbers at least three inches tall are easiest for responders to spot, particularly at night or in poor weather.

Officials emphasize that clear address signage can make a life-saving difference by helping emergency crews locate homes quickly when help is needed.
