RITZVILLE, WA — The Adams County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that a woman sought in connection with a death investigation in Ritzville is now in custody.
Authorities said Brittney Marie Jones, 35, was taken into custody following an investigation into a death reported on Nov. 18, 2025, in the 1600 block of Smitty’s Boulevard in Ritzville. The case was investigated by the sheriff’s office with assistance from the Ritzville Police Department.
According to the sheriff’s office, an autopsy later determined the decedent died as a result of an overdose. Investigators continued to examine the circumstances surrounding the death and ultimately established probable cause to seek a charge of controlled substance homicide.
The Odessa Police Department located Jones, and she was taken into custody without further details released regarding the arrest.
In a statement, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Odessa Police Department for its assistance and also acknowledged members of the public who provided tips and information during the investigation. Officials said community cooperation played a role in locating the suspect.
The sheriff’s office extended condolences to the family and loved ones of the decedent as the case proceeds through the judicial process.
Authorities emphasized that Jones is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
