22-year-old Eastern Washington man killed in Monday night crash

OTHELLO, WA — The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Monday night crash that left one person dead and another injured.

According to investigators, 22-year-old David Trinidad of Othello was driving a 2015 Ford Mustang eastbound on Frenchman Hills Road Southwest when he lost control of the vehicle. Authorities said Trinidad overcorrected, causing the car to leave the roadway and come to rest near an irrigation pond and a tree.

Trinidad was pronounced dead at the scene. His remains are in the care of Craig Morrison, whose office will conduct an autopsy. Family members have been notified.

The passenger, identified as 22-year-old Melany Campos of Othello, was transported by air ambulance to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland. Her condition was not released.

Investigators said speed is believed to have been a contributing factor in the collision. The case remains under investigation.
