New river cruise ship to launch on the Columbia and Snake Rivers in 2026

GUILFORD, CT – A new luxury riverboat is set to begin operating on the Columbia and Snake Rivers in May 2026, adding to growing cruise traffic through the Pacific Northwest.

American Cruise Lines announced its newest vessel, American Encore, will make its debut next spring, carrying up to 180 passengers on multi-day river cruises. The ship will feature private balcony staterooms, expanded public areas, and lower passenger density than traditional river cruise vessels.

The five-deck riverboat will include a four-story glass atrium, indoor and outdoor lounges, a fitness center, walking track, and elevator access to all passenger decks. All accommodations will have private balconies, and the ship will introduce a new suite category measuring more than 1,000 square feet, according to the company.

Company officials said the design emphasizes space and comfort while reducing onboard crowding. The ship is part of American Cruise Lines’ expanding fleet serving U.S. rivers, including the Columbia and Snake Rivers, which have become a growing destination for domestic river tourism.

American Cruise Lines plans to introduce two additional riverboats on the Columbia and Snake Rivers in 2027 and 2028. More details on American Encore’s inaugural season and port stops are expected to be released later this year.
