KOOSKIA, ID— An evening traffic stop in Kooskia led to a felony drug possession arrest Tuesday night, according to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said an Idaho County deputy was conducting traffic safety enforcement at about 10 p.m. on Jan. 13 when he stopped a black Cadillac for a fictitious display of license plates within the city of Kooskia.
During the stop, K9 Ripley arrived on scene and alerted on the vehicle, authorities said.
As a result of the investigation, Eric Smith, 39, of Kamiah, was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance. The sheriff’s office noted that the charge is an allegation at the time of arrest.
The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office stated the arrest reflects ongoing efforts focused on traffic safety enforcement and addressing drug possession on county roadways.
