Idaho Women’s March Planned for Saturday in Boise

BOISE, ID – The annual Idaho Women’s March is scheduled to be held Jan. 17 on the state Capitol steps in Boise.

Women of Idaho with the SW Idaho Chapter of the National Organization of Women are hosting the event, slated for 12:30 to 3 p.m.

The groups host an event each year the third Saturday in January as part of national Women’s Marches. It’s open to the public, and “community members of all ages and genders are encouraged to attend and participate peacefully,” according to a press release from Women of Idaho.

“This year’s theme, ‘Feminist Power is People Power,’ highlights the strength that comes from community-driven advocacy and civic engagement,” the release said.

There will be music by the Idaho Peace Band and speakers, the release said, and following the speeches, participants will march around the Capitol building.

“Now more than ever, it’s vital that we come together to uplift women, protect human rights, and ensure our voices are heard,” an unnamed representative of Women of Idaho said in the press release. “With the support of partners like SW Idaho NOW, we are strengthening our collective impact and ensuring that people power continues to drive meaningful change.”

Women of Idaho is a “grassroots, intersectional organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for women and girls across our state,” according to its website.  More information can be found at womenofidaho.org.
