COLFAX, WA – One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash Sunday morning on Wawawai-Pullman Road, according to the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office.

Whitman County sheriff’s deputies, along with emergency personnel from Fire District 12, were dispatched at approximately 11 a.m. to the crash near milepost 6. Upon arrival, first responders determined the vehicle’s sole occupant had sustained fatal injuries and pronounced the driver deceased at the scene.

Preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling southbound when it left the roadway, rolled multiple times, and came to rest off the road.

The driver was identified as 33-year-old Alex Papendick of Colton, Washington. The Whitman County Coroner responded to assist with the investigation.

The crash remains under active investigation by the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office. No additional details were available.
