Funding for WSU Research and Palouse Wastewater Project Passes in Senate

PULLMAN, WA – Washington State University and the City of Palouse will receive a combined $3 million in federal funding, included in the second FY 2026 minibus appropriations bill that passed the Senate and now goes to the White House for the president’s signature.

WSU will receive $2 million to purchase equipment for crystal growth for early-stage semiconductor materials research.

The City of Palouse will receive $1 million to complete wastewater treatment facility upgrades.

The grants were announced by US Senator Maria Cantwell’s office. The WSU funding was part of $7 million secured for science research facilities at Washington universities, while the Palouse grant was part of $22.5 million awarded to 21 communities statewide for water infrastructure improvements.
