Man Kills Wife, Then Himself During Domestic Incident in Southeast Idaho

BONNEVILLE COUNTY, ID – Police are investigating a fatal domestic incident that occurred Wednesday morning on Jackknife Road, near the Wyoming border.

According to the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, at 8:06 a.m., deputies responded to a 911 call from 43-year-old Christopher Moon, who told dispatchers he had shot his wife and threatened to take his own life. Cassandra Moon, 23, was identified as the victim.

Deputies, along with the SWAT Team, Lincoln County Wyoming Sheriff’s Office, and Star Valley Ambulance, responded to the scene. Two vehicles belonging to Christopher and Cassandra Moon were found parked on the side of the road. Deputies established brief phone contact with Christopher, attempting to persuade him to surrender peacefully.

Moments later, Christopher was observed shooting himself. Deputies found both Christopher and Cassandra deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. No other individuals were present, and there were no additional injuries reported.

Investigators collected evidence from the scene and continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
