Southern Idaho youth pastor sentenced to life in prison in child sexual abuse case

MERIDIAN, ID — A Meridian man has been sentenced to life in prison following his conviction in a child sexual abuse case, according to the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office.

Isaiah Teague, 25, was sentenced Monday by District Judge Cynthia Yee-Wallace to life in prison with a minimum of 20 years fixed after pleading guilty to felony lewd and lascivious conduct with a minor. Court records indicate the victim was under the age of 16 at the time of the offense.

Prosecutors said Teague was a trusted family acquaintance and youth pastor when the conduct occurred. The investigation found the abuse took place over an extended period before it was reported to authorities.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the case came to light after information discovered by a family member led to law enforcement involvement. Meridian Police Department detectives conducted the investigation, which ultimately resulted in Teague’s arrest and prosecution.

During sentencing, Judge Yee-Wallace cited the seriousness of the crime, the harm caused to the victim, and Teague’s conduct during the case. The judge described the actions as “egregious” and “offensive to justice,” according to court officials.

In addition to the life sentence, the court imposed a 50-year no-contact order barring Teague from contact with the victim and all minor children.

Ada County Prosecutor Jan Bennetts said the sentence reflects the severity of the offense and the need to protect the community. The prosecutor’s office credited the Meridian Police Department for its work on the case.
