OLYMPIA, WA – No. 12 LC State Women’s Basketball rolled past The Evergreen State College (Wash.) on Friday by a score of 80-40. The Warriors forced 30 turnovers that resulted in 34 points. Sitara Byrd and Kendall Wallace combined for 37 points in the contest.
“I thought we had a tremendous start today and did a great job of anticipating and playing passing lanes,” coach Caelyn Orlandi said. “We shared the ball well and did a great job of looking to score in transition. A great team win today.”
The victory has the LC State record at 19-6 overall and 13-4 in Cascade Conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Sitara Byrd, Kendall Wallace, Payton Hymas and Darian Herring combined for a 13-0 run in the first three minutes. Tallies by Byrd pushed the advantage to 17-2 at the 5:00 mark and the Warriors led 19-9 at the end of the frame.
Byrd and Tatum Brager opened the second quarter with a 5-0 LC State rally before the pair knocked down a barrage of triples to stretch the margin to 34-15 by 5:05. Ellee Brockman added a 3-pointer of her own in the final minute of the half and the Warriors led 42-20 at the break.
Wallace got the offense going in the third frame with a 3, and Lindsey Wilson added three points to make it 48-22 within three minutes. Herring, Byrd, Wilson, Brager and Camden Barger put together a 20-point stretch that ended the quarter with LC State in front 68-24.
Freshman Madalyn Green put up the first Warrior points of the fourth quarter, and Wallace drained a pair of 3-pointers to keep the lead near 40 points. Green and Wallace each scored in the final minute to close out the win.

Byrd led the contest with 19 points and six steals, and Wallace tallied 18 points with four 3-pointers and three steals. Herring scored 14 points with a game-high nine rebounds and three steals.
The Warriors shot 50% from the field and 47.6% from 3-point range with 10 triples. LC State went 14-for-16 at the free throw line.
The LC State defense held Evergreen to a 25.5% mark from the field and 23.5% from 3-point range.
