LEWISTON, ID – A 19-year-old man has been charged in Nez Perce County with multiple felony offenses involving minor girls, according to court documents filed this week.

Deacon J. McMurray was arrested on February 17 and is charged with lewd conduct with a child under sixteen, two counts of second-degree kidnapping, and sexual abuse of a child under sixteen.

The charges stem from allegations detailed in a probable cause affidavit. According to the affidavit, investigators obtained search warrants for Snapchat records that included messages, location data and account activity spanning several months.

Court documents allege McMurray communicated with underage girls through the social media platform and, in some instances, misrepresented his age. Investigators state he was 19 at the time of the alleged incidents.

The affidavit further alleges McMurray met in person with two girls in Lewiston, both under the age of 15. One juvenile reportedly told investigators she initially believed he was younger than he was. Officers also had allegedly located McMurray and one of the juveniles together at a Lewiston park in January.

A second juvenile reported meeting McMurray after communicating online. The affidavit alleges inappropriate contact occurred during an encounter in a vehicle at a Lewiston park. A witness interviewed by police reported observing the two inside the vehicle.

Investigators also reviewed online activity that included questions about Idaho laws related to minors, according to the affidavit.

McMurray’s vehicle was seized as part of the investigation. Authorities indicated additional forensic testing may be conducted.

McMurray is expected to make his initial court appearance on Wednesday afternoon.
