KOOSKIA, ID — Emergency crews responded Monday morning to a report of an injured hiker near the Weir Creek Trail along U.S. Highway 12.
According to Kooskia Emergency Services, the call came in at approximately 9:28 a.m. on Feb. 23 for a hiker who had fallen several feet off the trail near milepost 143.
Kooskia Ambulance, the Kooskia Ambulance Rescue Unit, and the Lowell Quick Response Unit were dispatched to the scene. Crews located the injured hiker and extricated the patient from the trail to the Weir Creek Trailhead.
The individual was transported by Kooskia Ambulance. The extent of the person’s injuries has not been released.
Emergency officials thanked the Idaho Transportation Department and the U.S. Forest Service for their assistance at the scene.
